I was born on Gotland, Visby Hospital in 1967. Like many others, my parents were forced to look for work on the mainland. The move took place in 1968, but at heart I am still a Gotlandian – thanks in large part to the summers spent with my grandparents outside Visby, and with my grandmother who lived within the walls of the beautiful city. I am a seeker, which has led me to try new paths and new jobs: as a gardener, sales assistant, florist, nurse, and more. Today I am happy for all these experiences and meetings with different people. There are constantly stories going on in my head where I borrow personalities from all these people I have met. Throughout my upbringing, reading was important, and my siblings and I always received books as birthday and Christmas presents. Much later, what was the origin of my book happened: I had a bonus sister who was three years younger than me. I was twelve years old when her father and my mother moved in together and we children experienced ourselves as real siblings. Later, as an adult and mother of three, she chose to end her life. I will never forget that day. She left her three small children and I often wondered how they would cope with growing up without her. To become whole and strong. The event also made me think about my own upbringing and vulnerability and reflect on the people I had met and been influenced by. The idea for the story came when, during a period in my life, I felt really limited by various illnesses. The book has therefore taken a long time to write. The incident with my sister certainly gave me the idea for the book, but I want to emphasize that it is not about her. The story depicts the life of a fictional person and the people and children around her. The story takes place on Gotland, where I still have my soul and my heart.
