Anne Carlie

I was born in 1959 to Danish parents and grew up on Amager in Copenhagen. When I was seven years old, my family moved to a deserted farm in northern Skåne, which was located alone in the forest. The move to Sweden meant major upheavals in my young life. At the end of the 1960s, children with an immigrant background were still somewhat unusual in smaller towns. Being different and not fitting in was not always easy. From having been a happy and free-spirited child, I became insecure and withdrawn. It was only during high school that I began to find myself again. One way to numb the pain was to write; I understand that in retrospect. At school, I loved writing and the dream of becoming a writer was there from an early age. But the desire to be seen made me set high standards for myself. And eventually, I put my dreams of becoming a writer on the shelf and trained to be an archaeologist and researcher instead. In the academic environment I was good at most things I did and at the age of 34 I became a Ph.D. in archaeology. After the public defense, my academic career took off in earnest and there were intense years as a researcher and teacher while I was also a parent of young children. In 1999 I left university and started working in commissioned archaeology, where I am still active today.

In my archaeological work, I have been able to affirm my writing in different ways throughout the years. Curiosity and the desire to seek to understand people's thoughts and actions in the past have been an important driving force for me over the years. But a life crisis in the early 2000s made me start looking inward to find my true self again. The search has already led me onto several exciting paths in life with Graceful Living, spiritual healing, mandala painting and civic ceremonies at different stages of life. In 2014, our beautiful croft came into life. It is in some way as if I have found home, where one of my dreams is to open up the place for spiritual healing. I see my experiences with the ice formations by the stream, the millfall and the dam, which I tell about in Encounters with the Ice People , as parts of this dream. I feel great joy and gratitude that life has given me the opportunity to share my experiences with you.
